Fab day with Kama Ayurveda

Hello my lovelies. How's your weekend coming along.Fab bag had organized an event with Kama Ayurveda ,which is one of the leading brands in luxury Ayurveda today (Saturday 13th June 2015 )and here's what was in store for us... at the store... (stupid pun because I am down with fever and it makes me happy.)

First we were taken on a brief tour of the store at Bandra and the sales personnel gave brief introduction about the products and answered our queries related to specific ailments like skin tanning/acne scars etc .

Then there was a small memory game where you had to name the various Kama products kept on a tray and two people who named the products correctly got a Kama goody bag

This was followed by a demonstration on how to make a natural facepack/ scrub

3 tablespoon oats
4 tablespoon honey
cool chamomile tea water (or green tea/ natural tea)
rose water if needed
almond oil if needed
lemon juice to preserve it

You can make this simple and effective facepack and keep in the fridge for upto a week
Then we had starters and brownies.
This was followed by a brief consultation with an ayurvedic skin therapist. I asked her about my acne scars and she prescribed an at home treatment of mixing aloe vera juice plus turmeric and applying only on the spots for 5-10 mins.
You had to pay Rs 500 to register for this event and this amount was refundable else you could choose a kama kit containing rose water, rose jasmine cleanser, rose lip balm, bringadi hair oil . This was a total value for money pack but I didn't opt for it since I already have 2- 3 of the items in the kit.

I already use the following Kama Ayurveda products
1) Mridul face cleanser Rs 425 for 40 gm - It is a powder which to which you add water and apply like a scrub. It is a non foaming natural cleanser ..Kind of like a ubtan for face
2) Kumkumadi beauty fluid - Rs 1890 for 12ml. Super expensive and the brand received a lot of flak recently for suddenly increasing the price of this best seller.A lot of beauty bloggers have blogged about this product which apparently makes your skin glow and shine. It is silicone, paraben , chemical free and was a lot cheaper until recently. I have used it for one week and I like how it makes my skin supple.. hoping the glow and reduction in acne scars will follow shortly.
3) Rose water - Rs 185 for 50 ml
These are these 3 products that I have been trying for a week I would recommend Kumkumadi beauty fluid because it moisturises and I need only one to two drops for my oily skin. It is said to prevent wrinkles and give a beautiful glow to the skin.
I tried a lot of products in the store and out of these I would definitely buy the following
1) Kama hand cream- Rs 645 for 60 gm - I got a small sample of it in the take home bag and really like it
2) Red Sandalwood ayurvedic soap - Rs 475 for 120 gm
Kama ayurveda is a high end luxury ayurveda brand and it is always nice to try good products but no compulsion to break the bank. Go to the store. Try a few products  and see what you like. Many benefits of ayurvedic skincare can be found in your kitchen but once in a while it is nice to indulge yourself.

We got to take home goody bags from Kama ayurveda as well as the fab bag plus eat the brownies... Nothing like brownies on a sick day.Kama Ayurveda goody bag plus oatmeal honey face pack

Fab bag goody bag

Overall a rainy saturday well spent when the other option was lying in bed with fever. Look forward to more events like these organized by the Fab Bag team. In case you were at the event too I was the shy girl in the black top standing in the corner eating the brownies.

May 2015 fab bag

The theme for the May fab bag(Sun,Sand,Sexy ) is apt given the scorching May heat

1)      Be a bombshell in one stick (shade sunset) : It is a lipstick, blusher, eye shadow in one . It has a creamy consistency but I will have to check if it is water proof or water resistant. On the lips it came of as slightly drying.
2)      Vana Vidhi Oriental Rice paddy luxurious face and body scrub
3)      Vichy ideal Meta whitening essence and meta whitening foam : It’s good travel sized products
4)      Fab bag bonus scarf : small scarf ideal for covering your hair
The bag itself is in classic blue and white stripes. I love this color for summer. Check out my affordable bag and wallet in this post
P.S - I paid for my subscription..

My March empties

I made a conscious effort to finish the almost empty products which were lingering a in my beauty closet for a long... long ... absolutely long time. In a bid to remove clutter and finish up old products I have reduced my buying of products unless it's absolutely required and I have finished 12 products.

Out of these I highly recommend the soulflower bath salt and soul soothing rose sandalwood soap- pleasant smell with gentle scrub effect, nivea deo, nivea cream- an all rounder, cotton buds or q-tips for makeup correction. Iraya product was also good and didn't break out my face. The irish moss scrub from The nature co was pretty decent and gave a good scrub but you will need to moisturise later.

My January 2015 empties

Here are my January empties.

Sesa Hair oil- I bought it for hair loss. It didn’t help in that department but did help my hair grow a little bit faster. It is a good oil and I do recommend it (it has a strong chemical smell) but I have other oils to finish so I won’t repurchase it for now.
Keratek Shampoo for relaxed hair. It is a gentle and effective shampoo for chemically treated hair. It is available at salons and this must be my 5th bottle or so. Great smell.
Body shop cotton face pad- They are organic but very expensive . I am always on the lookout for alternatives for these but the ones found in India are not that good. I bought cotton pads from London and they are much nicer and cheaper than these but unfortunately I bought only a double pack. I will repurchase the body shop cotton face pads but only cause of lack of better options

The Nature co marigold hair cleanser- Got it in my Nature co subscription box. It is natural and smells little citrusy and vinegary but I won’t repurchase it for now.

My 2014 annual empties

Happy New Year lovelies......It is time for my Annual empties post. Here are all the products I used in 2014 in the hopes of looking prettier .ha ha... I now have a thinner and prettier wallet. I also noticed that every couple of months without fail I buy minimum 1 sunscreen and 1 face wash among other things but no where in the empties in the past several years I have managed to finish even one bottle of each. I have not finished any sunscreen since atleast 3 years.
                                  The round up….

So this year I have emptied 5 big bottles of Nivea deodorant ( my fav and only consisted one),3 perfume bottles,7 toners… I tried experimenting with a few but my favorite is still the gentle, cooling VLCC rose water toner.. the rest were duds (Khadi toner… big disappointment), Aloe veda one was decent and I might repurchase it later ,2 kajal, 2 maybelline baby lips (one of my fav lip balms), 2 vaseline, my ever fav cool and cool charcoal nose strips, nexcare dots (must buy for acne ), 3 perfume bottles, 1 soulflower bath salt,3 cotton pad packets ( two of them being from the body shop) etc.
I have used a variety of wipes. The Body shop vitamin e wipes are not worth purchasing for the price.

The empties post encourages me to use up my old bottles.... ( I am crazy I do not throw stuff till it is empty... I have some umm really old stuff with me... I hate waste)... it also lets me see and assess which products I liked and which weren't worth the money spent. Also it forces me to think do I really need so much stuff to look and feel better. My major empties were as always toners, wipes, deo, hardly any makeup except 2 kajal pencils, 2 lip balms, 1 l'oreal infallible compact ( this particular shade is not available in India... they have darker and warmer shades) .

New year beauty resolution.... buy less and use more of the old products and write monthly empties post.
